Lozells in the Light

‘Lozells in the Light’ was a 25 minute documentary created by Reel Access filmmakers in collaboration with Aspire and Succeed. The project with young people took place in Lozells to create a film that looked at Community Cohesion and was also screened at the ‘Beyond Bricks’ showcase event in Birmingham.

Ripple

‘Ripple’ was a 30 minute documentary created by Reel Access in association with Geese Theatre and Mothers In Pain. The film looked at people affected by knife and gun crime in Handsworth. Reel Access worked with young people to create dramatic elements within the film which was screened at the “Beyond Bricks’ showcase event in Birmingham.

Janus and the White Horse

Janus and the White Horse is a live film / combined arts project in partnership with mac. The project received Research and Development funding from the Arts Council West Midlands in 2007-08, which culminated in a sharing event at MAC for members of the public. The project was put on hold while the mac was refurbished and we are now fundraising for the production phase of the project, which we are very excited about.

Arts Residency

Arts Residency

Reel Access secured a Birmingham City Council funded arts residency to work within the Hodge Hill District of the city from April 2009. Over the course of two years we have developed and delivered a range of film and media projects with children under 5 and older people up to the age of 91! We have made ourselves a home in Hodge Hill and remain based at the Pump on Kitts Green Road. We also now co-ordinate Hodge Hill Arts Forum alongside the Arts Champion for the constituency; The Birmingham Rep.

We are currently working with our local partners on a project entitled ‘Re-Awakening Lea Village’, which is an exciting history project exploring the area that dates back to 1275. If funding is successful we will work with residents to create a new archive and a short film inspired by the stories we gather.
